The Steroid Kings of Baseball

The kings of juice

The Boys of Bummer

Every year when the baseball season reaches a zenith, a young man’s dreams turn to the heavy hitters — Manny Ramirez of the Dodgers, Alex Rodriquez of the Yankees, Barry Bonds of the Giants and Roger Clemens of the Yankees. These gentlemen are at the top of a reasonably long list of famous players accused of using performance-enhancing drugs (aside from Vitamin D milk). As fans looked to these baseball stars for answers to their super-human performance, they heard the same excuse used by parents of overweight children: “They are just big boned.” If experts on the use of steroids are to be believed, the ultimate punishment may come from side effects, which shrink certain body parts most valued by superstar performers. They will actually become small boned.
